Tour Thomas Jefferson's 11,000-square-foot neoclassical primary residence. You will need a timed-entry ticket to explore the interior rooms.
Jefferson began designing and building his home in 1769. The completed house contains 43 rooms and sits on a mountaintop outside Charlottesville. A standard Highlights Tour costs $42 and takes you through the main floor spaces.
Remember that flash photography is prohibited inside the house. Leave bags larger than 11 by 15 by 6 inches at the visitor center. Large items are banned beyond that point.
